Thirty plus year member Grant Canning passed away suddenly last Thursday night.
At times like this we reflect on the things in life we value. It reminds us that life is not a dress rehearsal. Grant lived his life to the full, he made a difference through his work as a paramedic with The Victorian Ambulance Service. His happy smile and gentle demeanour will be missed by us all. To Amanda and the whole Canning family we extend our heartfelt sympathy. Fair winds Maverick may the breeze be at you back, Greg Martin, Commodore To all our loyal customers:
In response to the latest Victorian State Government Stage 4 Restrictions, we are pleased to advise that Sport Phillip Marine will remain open for business during the 6 week lock-down in Melbourne beginning 11.59pm Wednesday 5th August and lasting for an estimated 6 weeks within the Melbourne metropolitan area and surrounding regions. There will be strictly no entrance to our retail store during this time. Our policy has always been to maintain considerable stock levels but where we need to order-in stock there will may be some delays in our response. Our transport partners also remain in operation, however there may be some delays experienced due to the restrictions and increased demands on all carriers. We thank you for your ongoing support and plan to operate as close to normal as possible during this period. We hope that with your support we are able to survive this disaster and continue supporting you. Kind Regards James Robertson Manager Dear Members,

Keep well and stay safe, Sarah Grant Club Manager The Mental Health Foundation Australia cordially invites you to the Sportspersons' Mental Health Symposium on:
When: October 16, 2020, 10:00am – 2:00pm Where: Brisbane Convention Centre, Glenelg St, South Brisbane QLD 4101 Mental health has been unaddressed in the Australian sporting landscape for a long time, but several athletes have recently opened up about their battles with depression and anxiety, also revealed their struggles with mental health and dealing with their schedules of relentless training, competition and evaluation. With the recent outbreak of mental health issues in players, the Foundation is organising a National Symposium on Sportspersons' Mental Health to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing among players, coaches, sports associations and to have a discussion on the status of support services available to them. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact staff at [email protected] or call us on P: (03) 9826 1422 We hope you can join us at the event! Please confirm your attendance, by registering via this link: https://www.mhfa.org.au/CMS/Sportspersons-mental-health ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2020 TRUSTEES REPORT
The trustees are pleased to report on the activities of the Foundation for the year ended 30 June 2020. The highlights for the year were:
In addition to the original projects several new ones have been added during the year as follows:
The Foundation is an unincorporated entity governed by a Charter drawn up and adopted by the Committee of the Mornington Yacht Club. The Foundation offers individuals the opportunity to make tax deductible donations to specific projects. The Foundation is required to provide acquittal reports to the ASF documenting the expenditure of funds on these approved projects. In addition the Foundation is able to accept donations made directly to it where no tax deduction is sought . The activities of the Foundation are governed by a Board of Trustees; Stuart Gooley (Chairman) Ray Harvey Noel Heyes Bret Levenspiel. The Foundation holds regular meetings independently of the Club Board and operates its own Bank account. Reports are provided to the Club Board on the Foundation's activities. It is our overriding objective to work collaboratively with the Board to provide financial support for projects agreed to by the Foundation. The Trustees are pleased with the progress that the Foundation has made during the year given the difficulties arising from the Covid 19 outbreak which has curtailed our activities since March. As a result of this outbreak the Foundation's fund raising Business lunch planned for 3 April at which Club member and international around the world sailor Sophie Ciszek was to be the guest speaker had to be cancelled. At the time of the cancellation ticket sales were strong and an interesting collection of raffle prizes had been arranged. We would like to thank all sponsors who agreed so generously to assist with this event and to the organising group our appreciation for their efforts. We look forward to resurrecting this important fund raising event when conditions allow. Finally it is encouraging to the Trustees that the Foundation continues to gain traction within the Club with 94 contibutors at year end. We recognise that we are in a period of serious financial difficulty which may continue for some time however by continuing to expand our base and encouraging donations of any amount from members we will be able to materially assist the Club in building and maintaining the operations that will benefit all members.
