Everyone welcome, bring your friends and family! If possible please RSVP to the office - 03 5975 7001
Our next members & friends lunch is being held on Friday 4 June. Come along to the club for lunch and catch up with other members from 12 noon (lunch to be ordered over the bar).
Everyone welcome, bring your friends and family! If possible please RSVP to the office - 03 5975 7001 We are really excited to announce our new partnership with "Fitzpatrick & Co". Fitzpatrick have been the club insurance brokers for a number of years now and are fantastic to work with.
For the benefit of all members, security cameras have now been installed in the yard. This additional security doesn't replace the onus on members to keep building and yard doors/gates closed and locked. Thank you.
It is now mandatory for clubs to use the Victorian Government QR Code service or one that is API compatiable.
We have decided to use the Government Service which is very simple so next time you scan to sign into the club you'll notice that it is slightly different. Just scan the code as normal, put in your first name, mobile number and then press "save my details for next time" button. Very easy. We ask that all of you continue with the habit of signing in every time you visit the club, it is imperative that the club is compliant especially as we move into cooler months...thank you for your co-operation. John Berry, who became the first Honorary Secretary of the Club when it was formed in 1946 passed away in Queensland on Tuesday 6 April at the age of 96. As well as acting as Secretary, in subsequent years he held all Flag Officer positions at the Club with the exception of Rear Commodore. John was Commodore in 1948/49 and 1949/50, Vice Commodore in 1947/48, Honorary Treasurer in 1950/51 and served on the Committee from 1951/52 through to 1955/56. On his being relocated by his employer away from Mornington he was made an Honorary Life Member. John helped to establish the Heavy weight Sharpie class at Mornington which was the backbone of the Club in its early years. He was the owner of 'Kittiwake' and 'Fantasy' winning many trophies at Mornington and around the Bay. In recent years we have kept contact with John who remained interested in the Club's activities. He recently donated the original writing desk used by him when he held the Honorary Secretary's position in 1946. This desk is now proudly located in the foyer of the Club. The Club passes on our condolences to John's children and his extended family. The Club will always be indebted for the contribution that John made to establish the Club that we all enjoy today. Rest in Peace John. We are looking for Sunday volunteers along with extra help on Wednesdays & Fridays. Please contact Mick Daddo on 0407 325 267 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Glenys Neate who passed away on Sunday night.
Glenys has been associated with Mornington Yacht Club for 55+ years, regularly taking Trevor down for Sabot sailing on Sunday mornings. She was a member for 43 years, and was elected for a life membership along with her late husband Alf in 1991. Glenys enjoyed attending our monthly ladies lunches, and other social events catching up with club friends. She was also regular on Thursday nights.
