When tested with a storm cell on Saturday the strength of the team was impressive, and again with the efficiency of 16 races on Sunday in just over 3 hours! Our BBQ volunteers did an amazing job keeping everyone full - thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The Footy Tipping Competition is up and running and this year we are going online!!

We are pleased to announce our new partnership with "Octagon Removals & Storage" who are super keen to support our Junior's in the club.
Based in Elite Way, Mornington Octagon started servicing the Mornington Peninsula in 2010 when it was established by Stephen, dad to the current owner Jack with younger brother, Ben currently learning his trade. Jack, the company owner took over the business in 2019 allowing his dad to concentrate on quotations and fishing! Put simply "if you need it moved Octagon will arrange to move it!" Stephen is offering all MYC members a 10% discount across their range of services, including their "Octibox" which gets delivered to you, you fill and then it gets taken to their new facility in Elite Way for storage. Click here to view the pdf version of the Octibox flyer, and for more information please visit their website . We welcome Stephen, Jack and Ben to the club and we hope to introduce them to the world of sailing! Safety Beach Sailing Club hosted their annual Sail Peninsula Regatta last weekend a number of MYC yachts competed although our representation was a bit disappointing. The weekend started with the twilight pursuit to Safety Beach from Mornington. The bigger boats from SBSC cleaned up. I hope the handicapper gets them next year. Scott Robertson was the first MYC boat home. Friday night’s pursuit at Safety Beach was sailed near perfect conditions as well with 51 boats on the track. Saturday’s race to Blairgorie and back saw a 50plus fleet in two divisions sail in absolutely fantastic conditions. Mortica took the MYC crown in Div1 and Himalayan Women came second in Div 2. On Sunday “Huey” had a rest and after a long “AP” sailing eventually got under way, Apache took the MYC honours.
Overall best results, Div 2 Himalayan Women 1st CBH and 3rd AMS Tub Thumper 2nd CBH Div 1 Apache 8th and Mortica 9th Adams 10 Apache 2nd and Mortica 3rd It’s a great weekend of sailing so close to home, I’m not sure what we need to do to get more MYC representation, we had plenty of members sailing but only a few boats. Greg M Commodore Good news, as per the announcement made by VIC premier Dan Andrews today, the 5 day "snap" lockdown finishes at midnight tonight, which means we go back to where we were last week:
CLUB & YARD Will be open from tomorrow with the usual mandatory sign in via the QR codes displayed on all entry points. MEMBERS BAR & FUNCTION ROOM Open from tomorrow with the previous restriction on numbers: Bar - 30, Function room - 50 and outside deck - 40. CLUB SAILING Back to normal commencing with tomorrow night's Twilight sail to Safety Beach - yey! VICTORIAN JUNIOR CARNIVAL & SCHNAPPER POINT REGATTA Scheduled for13 & 14 March THE ROCKS Open from tomorrow 10am onwards for coffee, lunch and dinner THE MYC OFFICE Open from 12 noon - 5.30pm tomorrow, and 9.30am - 3pm Friday. See you at the club! Bye for now, Sarah Grant, Club Manager We were all disappointed to have to postpone the Schnapper Point Regatta and Victorian Junior Carnival. After so many cancelled regattas this season we still plan to hold these events, especially Junior Carnival which is important for our youngest sailors.
We have come to the conclusion that the best possible weekend is that of the 13th and 14th of March. Hopefully that will suit as many as possible, both volunteers and participants. We have to, in times such as these; remain flexible, make the most of the situation, stay safe, have fun, and get back on the water. Yours in sailing Team MYC |
